The transition from the family into the unknown is a challenge for the child. Adjusting to a new environment and building a nurturing relationship are things the child must first come to terms with. The change in daily routine and the daily separation from parents are hurdles that must be overcome. That is why, during the first few weeks, we give parents the opportunity to spend time with their child at our facility on an hourly basis. This helps foster a more personal relationship between parents and the teacher, and gives the children time to get used to their new environment.

•   Each child decides for themselves how long they need to adjust.
•   The child should be well-rested when they arrive at the daycare center.
•   The primary caregiver should always be the same person during the adjustment period.
•   The child should attend the daycare center for at least one week, for about one hour during playtime.
•   The presence of the primary caregiver creates a “safe haven” for the child.
•   Be discreet and leave the care of other children to the childcare professional.
•   Once the child is distracted by play activities, the primary caregiver can leave the room for a few minutes.
•   On the following days, the primary caregiver should gradually say goodbye to the child for slightly longer periods of time.
•   Goodbyes should be as brief and affectionate as possible.
•   The educators are always available to talk with you and offer tips on the adjustment period.
•   Parents can spend the separation periods during the adjustment phase in our lounge.
